I can't let yesterday go by without thanking all of our friends, neighbors, & parents of our kids friends that are Police Officers. We thank you for all you do, for your sacrifice that both you and your family make to keep us safe. You truly are our hero's, what helps me sleep at night. Thank you....words cannot express how much we appreciate you.
All of our officer friends knew at least one of the fallen officers, so we just felt helpless...wanting to do something....
So when we heard that Papa Johns Pizza is graciously donating all the proceeds from sales yesterday and TODAY to the families of the 4 officers who were killed, we knew we could do that. 100% of the sales!!! You don't hear that very often. We got pizza last night from them. We ordered it online, and knew that it would of course be busy....so I ordered it at 3, and we got it at 5. I didn't specify a time for them to come....we more did it to help the families...the pizza would get here when it did. Our Bonney Lake store finally couldn't take any more orders, they were so busy! That's what we were hoping for! We can always make a snack to hold us over, right? So if you live in WA, order pizza today, have for lunch, snack, dinner, whatever...
The support the families received from around the country & even Canada was amazing. They were officers that drove here from the East Coast even. The memorial was sad & very touching to watch....the procession at one point spanned from McCord to the Tacoma Dome, stopped....as they parked each car. The service started hours late, and eventually they told officers to just park & come in, that didn't even drive in the procession.....I heard a count of 20,000+ officers were in attendance. Wow.
This is a photo our good friend Gavin took as he drove in the procession....if you watched the memorial on TV at all yesterday, or picked up a paper, you saw the 2 firetrucks that raised the huge flag.......this is what it looked like from the families & police officers view as they drove under it.....
This was taken inside the Tacoma Dome....wow...so many officers there to pay their respects...
So thank you Gavin, Mark, Tom, Brian, Al, Kelly, Morgan, and all the other police officers we know through our children's school/sports, Church, and the community. I hope that through this tragedy, people treat you with more respect, the respect you all deserve. We are grateful for your families & the time that they give up being with you, so you can keep us safe. Thank you.
